2026 Fall Semester Waiver Period is 6/1/2026-8/31/2026
Undergraduate Students Who Wish to Waive Coverage:
Reed College requires all undergraduate students to be covered by health insurance that is comparable to the Reed College health plan. You will automatically be charged for the appropriate domestic or international student health plan. If you have your own comparable health coverage and do not want to join the Reed plan, you must complete an insurance waiver form each academic year. The waiver portal is only available while in the U.S.
Documentation Requirements:
You will be required to load a copy of the front and back of your insurance ID card, regardless of your coverage. If you have an EPO or HMO, you should also load proof that the policy will offer comprehensive insurance while in the Portland, Oregon area. That documentation is commonly proof that the student has been granted access to out-of-area dependent coverage.
Waiver Deadlines:
- July 1: Submit your waiver by this date to allow time for the waiver credit to appear before the Tuition Due Date.
- Tuition Due Date: Your account balance must be paid in full. If your waiver credit has not yet been applied, you are responsible for paying the insurance charge. Unpaid balances may result in a registration hold and late fees.
- First Day of the Semester: Final deadline to submit a waiver-no exceptions.
Once your waiver application has been audited, you will receive email confirmation of its approval or denial. Please allow 5-7 business days for this process. If you have questions about the general waiver rules or processes, please contact Reed College Health and Counseling Center.
Approved waivers: Students with an approved waiver will not be enrolled in the student health insurance and will receive credit on their account to offset the insurance charge. The waiver approval is valid for the year.
Denied waivers: Students with denied waivers will be enrolled in the student health insurance plan. If your waiver has been denied and you are looking for more information, or if you have not received notification of your waiver status within 5 business days of submitting your waiver, please contact PacificSource Customer Service at 855-274-9814 or studentwaiver@pacificsource.com
